About Me
Hi! I'm Betsy Ezell, M.A., CCC-SLP, a licensed speech-language pathologist and founder of KC Therapy Co.
I started KC Therapy Co. because I believe therapy should feel personal, supportive, and centered around what matters most to each individual and family. Whether we're working on communication, feeding, swallowing, cognition, or voice, my goal is simple: to help clients make meaningful progress while feeling understood, encouraged, and empowered every step of the way.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from the University of Kansas, followed by my Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, also from the University of Kansas. Rock Chalk!
I am licensed in both Kansas and Missouri and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Throughout my career, I have worked with both children and adults across inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient medical centers, and community-based settings. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals with a wide range of communication, feeding, swallowing, cognitive, and voice needs while developing a deep appreciation for the unique strengths and goals every person brings to therapy.
One of the things I value most is collaboration. I believe the best outcomes happen when therapists, families, caregivers, teachers, physicians, and clients work together as a team. You know yourself or your loved one better than anyone else, and your insights are an essential part of the therapy process. My role is not only to provide evidence-based treatment, but also to listen, guide, educate, and partner with you along the way.
To provide the highest quality care, I have completed advanced training in several specialty areas, including the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP), and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD). These evidence-based approaches allow me to create individualized treatment plans that are both clinically effective and practical for everyday life.
At KC Therapy Co., I provide mobile and teletherapy services throughout Johnson County and the greater Kansas City metro area. By bringing therapy directly to homes, schools, daycares and community settings, I can support clients in the environments where they naturally communicate, learn, eat, work, and connect with others. My focus is always on functional skills that carry over beyond our sessions and make a meaningful difference in daily life.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, traveling, cooking, and making memories with family and friends. The relationships I have with my own family remind me every day how important trust, compassion, and support are when facing challenges. That's why I strive to treat every client and family the way I would want my own loved ones to be treated—with kindness, honesty, patience, and individualized care. I consider it a privilege to be part of each family's journey, and I am committed to providing the guidance, encouragement, and expertise needed to help clients reach their goals.
Whether you're seeking answers, guidance, or therapy services, I look forward to getting to know you, understanding your goals, and partnering with you to help you or your loved one thrive.

Who We Are
-
KC Therapy Co was created from a desire to change how therapy is delivered and experienced. While working in an outpatient-neuro rehabilitation setting, I repeatedly saw the same barriers impacting patient progress—limited access to care, transportation challenges, time constraints, and the difficulty of maintaining consistency within a traditional clinic model. I wanted to build something more flexible, more personal, and more connected to real life.
KC Therapy Co. was born from that vision: a practice that brings high-quality, evidence-based therapy into the home and community, where progress is most meaningful and sustainable. By shifting the service model, we’re able to meet clients where they are while still providing the same level of clinical excellence and care.
At its core, this practice is about removing barriers, restoring access, and making therapy feel more human, more practical, and more aligned with everyday life.
-
KC Therapy Co. uses a functional, evidence-based approach to therapy that focuses on real-world progress—not just clinic-based skills. We tailor every session to the client’s daily environments—home, school, daycare, or work—so therapy directly connects to meaningful routines and activities.
Our approach is family-centered and collaborative, with caregivers as active partners in the therapy process. We also prioritize strong communication and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care that supports each client’s overall needs.
Whether supporting communication, feeding, swallowing or cognitive-communication goals, we focus on helping each client build skills that improve independence, confidence, and participation in everyday life.
-
We value flexibility and bring therapy into the places life actually happens—homes, schools, daycares, and telehealth—so care fits naturally into each client’s routine.
We are committed to family-centered care, believing that family members know their loved ones best. We use that insight to meet clients where they are and shape therapy around what matters most to them.
We focus on building meaningful relationships while developing lifelong, generalizable skills that extend far beyond the therapy session.
Flexibility, collaboration, and connection shape the way we work. These aren’t just words—they’re the foundation of how we support every client and family we serve.
What We Do
At KC Therapy Co., we believe therapy should fit into real life—not the other way around. That's why we bring personalized speech, language, feeding, swallowing, and cognitive-communication services directly to children and adults throughout the Kansas City metro.
Every therapy plan is individualized, family-centered, and designed to support meaningful progress in everyday communication, independence, and participation. We celebrate each milestone, provide practical support, and care for every client the way we would our own family.
-
We provide pediatric speech therapy in Johnson County and surrounding areas for children with a wide range of communication needs, including early language development, speech sound disorders, and social communication skills. Therapy is play-based, functional, and designed to help children build confidence and carry skills into home and school environments.

We offer pediatric feeding therapy for children experiencing picky eating, oral-motor delays, texture aversions, and mealtime difficulties. We focus on building safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate feeding skills that support healthier, more successful mealtime experiences.
